Social Action

Single Parents Fair
Launched in 2009, over 125 single parents and around 240 children came to our first Single Parents’ Fair at The Greenway Centre. There were treats for parents including pamper sessions and family photos and the children enjoyed face painting, a bouncy castle, pony rides, basketball coaching and much more. Advice agencies were also present giving help on housing, money management, jobs and health. These are now regular annual events. Elderly Befriending Scheme
Having been approached by a local GP surgery, the Greenway Community Practice, the church has set up a befriending scheme in partnership with the practice. Volunteers visit elderly people in the local community to offer friendship and support. Contact Tim Dobson for more information.

Badocks Wood School
Volunteers from the church regularly visit this primary school in Southmead to read with children, lead assemblies and serve filter coffee and cakes to the staff team. To get involved, please margaretLatscriptureunion [dot] org [dot] uk (subject: Website%20Enquiry) (email Margaret Lilley).

The Noise
Each May bank holiday weekend, 100's of volunteers from across Bristol’s churches express God’s love to communities across North Bristol (Horfield, Lockleaze, Sea Mills and Southmead) through acts of service, love and generosity. Each Noise weekend includes a mixture of community action projects, kids’ clubs, sports activities, senior citizen banquets and family fun afternoons.
