Microfinance and the Poor - the Church's response?
There is growing interest in the use of microfinance to support some of the poorest people in the developing world. Organised by Woodlands Group of Churches, this seminar will provide a timely opportunity to explore microfinance in more detail, addressing key issues such as how it can best be used to benefit the developing world, addressing some of the negative reports around microfinance and hearing at firsthand how to get involved.
There will be representatives there from a number of the leading microfinance charities, including VisionFund International (World Vision), Five Talents and Deki, with an opportunity to engage in practical workshops and raise questions. We'll also be sharing something of our experiences at Woodlands Group of Churches in our exploration of microfinance initiatives as part of our Global Partnership strategy.
The cost of the seminar is £5 (Book online using the link on the right), which covers lunch and a contribution towards a fund we will use to make some microfinance loans together during the seminar.
